76: Emotional Cocktail

Pamela

My phone rings in my pocket, and when I pull it out to check who it is, I see it's long distance.

     Curious, I answer it anyway.
"Is this Pamela Burch, I mean, Drake?" asks a woman's voice on the other end of the line.
     "Yes. Who is this?"
"Pammie? Is that really you?" she asks.
Pammie? The only one who's ever called me Pammie was -
"Hold on a sec," I say quickly and separate myself from the rest of the party by walking in the direction of Jesse's house.
"Ashley?" I ask, stunned and feeling bottled-up anger starting to boil back up to the surface.
"Yes. It's me," she answers with only the tiniest trace of guilt in her voice.
I take a deep breath so that I don't go off on her.
Forget that. She deserves this and more.
"You bitch! You awful, skanky-ass ho! What the fuck could you possibly want to talk to me for unless you happen to feel like having someone chew your ass out?!"
"I know!" she gets in quickly while I take a breath.

"No. You don't. You have no idea what you did to my brother! To my niece! You know. Your daughter?! Just in case you forgot, you have one of those." I am seething and having a very difficult time hiding it in any other way other than my voice, and I hope my voice isn't carrying over to the party. The wind is headed off shore, so I hope not. I do not want Ashley to ruin Adele's birthday in any way, and knowing her "mother" is on the other end of this phone call would.
"I need your help," she says in a desperate tone.
"I see. The only reason you'd contact anyone from here would be because you need something," I say, growling.
"Pammie, please!" Don't call me 'Pammie,' you bitch! "He's dying, and I can't heal him. I've never known a better healer than you. I'll do anything! I'll pay your airfare! Please, I'm desperate," she pleads and starts crying.

"I haven't used my powers like that in years. I don't know how effective I could be," I say with a shrug.
"You'll be fine. It never leaves. You're a natural. I'm begging you!"
"Is this a number where you can be reached?" I ask.
"Y-yes," she stammers. I've never known her to stammer. She was always Ms. Overconfident.
Someone is dying, and I might be able to help.
"What's wrong with him?" I can't believe I'm considering this.
"He has a large tumor attached to his brain stem with fingers leading up over the top part of the rest of his brain. The doctors say it's terminal."
Whoa. "I don't think I can cure that."
"I've got to have you at least try. I know it might not work, but I don't want it to be because we didn't try."
"I'll have to talk to Simon, and right now isn't a good time. I hope you understand why." My heart rate increases again from my renewed anger.
"Yes. She's eleven. I can hardly believe it. Um... how is she?"
       Oh. Now you ask?!
"She's doing just great with all the loving support she gets from everyone. She's bright and confident, and she does her father proud," I throw in her face.

"That's... great," she responds, finally showing a little remorse.
Simon walks up to me, and he can tell something's wrong. I don't want to tell him that I'm talking to Ashley. I've had more than enough of talking to her anyway. "I'll call you later," I say dryly and hang up.
Selfish bitch! Of all the awful girls to ensnare my brother like that!
"Baby, what's wrong?" Simon asks me as he holds Jeremy on his hip.
I suddenly throw my arms around his neck and thank my lucky stars that I have someone like him in my life. I start crying. I'm an emotional disaster with this pregnant, hormonal cocktail in my system.
"Who were you yelling at?" he asks as he holds me with his free arm. Jeremy wiggles and starts playing with my hair.
"Can I tell you later?" I ask. I guess my furious voice reached someone after all.
"Sure. Everyone's going home now anyway," he says, and I see he's right as Jesse and Marie walk to Jesse's house.
Simon and I go and gather most of Jeremy's toys that we brought. I'm sure we'll forget a few, but that's okay. I also decide to clean up my brother's house a little with this sudden burst of angry energy I have. Besides, I'd feel bad leaving all this mess for Erin to clean up. As I make my way around, Adele comes running up to me with a panic-stricken look on her face.

Sorry for the short chapter and for the horrible pics!

  1. I love Pamela! She was right on to bitch Ashley out. And I love that she can see past that to consider healing this guy despite the fact that she has every every to want to hurt Ashley.
Though it does sound like healing might be beyond her abilities here, but still.
Gosh, though, I can see so many ways for this just be trouble for Bryce and Erin. Ashley coming back in any form. Yipes.
And poor Adele, if her mother did suddenly turn up now. Especially since Adele was obviously barely a second thought to her.

    1. Pamela is definitely one of my favorites. Exactly! Ashley needed bitching out!!!
That's good that you're happy that she's still considering healing this guy even though he's the one her brother's ex-wife left him for. He's still a person. but yeah...
And yes, his tumor is most likely beyond her capabilities.
Ashley turning up would be bad on so many levels. She's such a bitch for thinking of Adele as an afterthought and saying something about her only after Pamela mentioned her birthday.

  2. TOOO SHOOORTTTT!!!
Not forgiven!!! (says the woman who's 2 months behind on her story)

Why is that bitch calling on Addie's birthday? I know why, but WHY!!!
Now Pam, Bryce's sister, has to go help the boyfriend/husband of the woman that ABANDONED her niece and screwed over her brother??? Remind me again how much of a good person I am, because right now I'm seeing stars at her nerve!

    Oh and... not forgiven!

Hehe. Sorry. I didn't want this Bitchley hatred to bleed over into the next chapter is the real reason it's a stand-alone.
Ahem! And yeah! *taps foot and checks watch* hehe

I know why you're asking why if that makes sense. She's incredibly selfish.
Pam hasn't decided what she's going to do, but she's quite possibly going to guilt herself into it because she hates the thought of suffering, especially when she's been ASKED to do something about it. And she has to realize that took guts for Ashley to seek her out given everything that's happened.

  3. no, no and NO!!!! I swear if Pam goes to help that bitch I'm going on strike. Pam has NO reason to do a nice thing for that woman. There is no reason, nothing Ashley can say to make Pam go. She walked out on Bryce and Adele. And she has the nerve to call and ask for help for the man that was ok with this woman walking out on her husband and child. FUCK NO!!!!! He's just as bad as she is, and I don't feel sorry for him one bit. I will strike if Pam goes to help. She's pregnant, her niece is going through some stuff and that bitch call for help.

NOOOO. She'd better not go. I'm so pissed right now. She hasn't called in years and when she does it's on her child's birthday which she asked about as an after thought. Nope there will be ZERO reason that would be ok for her going to help Ashley or her man.

    1. Um, I think you were holding back a little there, jazen. :)
Right. He's just as bad as Ashley because he knew what she was doing when she left Bryce and Adele. Two selfish assholes.
I think you said it well enough that if I kept responding, it'd just be to agree with everything you said.

    1. Yes, that woman has shown her ugly head, albeit in a phone call. Even IF Pamela goes to try to help, she might not be able to cure him. Hehe. and what would you suggest she do?

  5. That bitch needs to make her way out of this story because all she will do is make trouble. And why did she have to call on Adele's birthday. Can't wait till the next chapter!

    1. True. She's the ultimate bitch in this story, the ultimate troublemaker. She didn't even have to be IN the story to cause trouble with the stuff she left behind.
She called on Adele's birthday because she knew Pamela would be feeling extra family-ish and hopefully have sympathy for her. Yeah. -.-
:) It's in my head. I have to write it.

  6. GO PAM! Fucking Bitchley. Pams too nice, she shouldn't have even considered going to help a man, who I can only assume is Bitchley's lover, when *she's* involved. I hope this thing with Bryce will change her mind, Adele is definately gunna need her.

AND YES THIS WAS TOO SHORT AND YOU SHOULD BE SORRY!!!
*sigh* Teasing us all like that.

Just read the other comments, and I like Dianes idea! Personally, I can't see Pam leaving this guy to die. It's not his fault his wife/girlfriend/fuck buddy was a complete waste of air, but, just the fact that it would be helping her out would annoy me too much to go help. I know, that's mean. *shrugs*

And if Bryce or Adele found out about this?! Just no, Pam, don't do it.

    1. OR!!! What if this 'he' was infact her kid by this other guy?! What would that do to poor little abandoned Adele? Knowing her mother walked out and left her, only to raise some other guys kid somewhere else?
And, that is sooooo the kind of thing you'd do. SO MEAN!

But I love you. Next chapter, please *pouts*

    2. Sorry, I should've made it clearer. "He" is her new husband. Wow, your imagination took flight on that whole son thing. Ashley doesn't like kids, and neither does this guy.
Although... that IS like something I'd do... hehe. >:)

True, Pamela is thinking all this without even knowing what's happened to her brother and niece. Hopefully, easing Adele into understanding herself will take up her time enough to where she can't go and try to heal this guy.
      !!!!
I didn't want to include this segment with the next chapter. Plus, I had this part written months ago (even before Jesse and Marie, Lynne and Troy, etc), and the next chapter is still mulling around in my head.

Right. There's always that to consider, that Pamela isn't the type to just let someone die. We'll have to see what happens.

Bryce would be upset. Adele would be shocked.

  7. Obviously, I'm not happy to hear from Ashley, but we knew this was coming. I'm curious who "he" is that needs Pam's help. In any case, Pam isn't going anywhere until she heals Bryce. I wonder if she'll say anything to him about Ashley's call. Tough position to be in. Still, it's hard to let someone die without trying even if you can't stand your bitch of an ex-sister-in-law. Yep, I need more info. Next chapter soon, please.

    1. I didn't realize I wasn't clear enough on who "he" was. It's her 2nd husband, the one she left Bryce for.
True. Pam will have alot of things distracting her and taking precedent over this phone call. I doubt she'd tell Bryce. That little family will have enough on their hands because... Erin doesn't know either. Bryce isn't one, but it's in his family...

I don't envy Pam's decision, even if I put her there, hehe.
      Working on it!

  9. @ gem 'nough said, and so much hostility...but I agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Personally? I think Pam should go help the guy...let's be honest, the guy didn't really make Ashley go and move and totally screw with the family. Even if he did know Ashley was married and had a kid, he didn't make her do anything, all of that was in Ashley's control, not his. You can't blame someone who didn't make her do anything that was in her control...now, if he was a witch or wizard too and cast a spell on Ashley, then yes, I think you can blame him...but from what I know of, he hasn't, and Ashley is quite seriously in control of herself like everyone else

Plus, let's be honest, if she didn't do all that, Bryce wouldn't have met Erin and it is starting to seem like that is the best thing to ever happen to him besides his daughter. I really hope you update soon so we can see what happens with Adele and her powers and what else happens! I am really looking forward to it!
Hope you are well and stay well!

PS: Do think Pam was in the right to bitch Ashley out xD I can only imagine what Bryce would do if she called him and all but still!

    1. Weeeeeellllll.... he's the guy she met over the internet and he knew she was married and had a kid. Still, he wasn't twisting her arm. It was her decision to go, but he's not a saint. Right. He's not a witch, werewolf, vampire, genie or anything. :)
Pam might still go help him.

Exactly! Just as Bryce figured out one night, if he'd still been married to Ashley when Erin came to the island, he'd be miserable.

I have the next update written, but I'm not really happy with it atm. Something's not right, and I have to figure out what. Then, of course, get the pics.
I am and hope you are too!

Haha! If Bryce had been on that phone call, there would've been a lot more swearing. That was atypical for Pamela for the most part.
      :)

  11. Pamela deserved to chew Ashley out and more. She should have hung up after she was done. I'm guessing the guy she wants Pamela to save is her new bf? Pfft I say let him die. Aw I wanted to see the Pam's reaction when Adele told her she "discovered" her powers accidentally on Bryce's face.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh yeah! Pamela was definitely justified to blow her top, even if she tried to keep herself calm visually. Hm. Something tells me that if she'd hung up then Ashley would've called back, and then Pamela would be nervous/antsy/moderately freaked out over it, meaning that Bryce might see and figure out what was going on. Still.... I just thought of something... She has Ashley's phone number. LOL What if she gave that to Bryce so he could call her up and chew her out! :D
Yes, the guy Ashley wants Pam to save is her new husband.

You'll get to find out how Adele reacts to everything in the next update, if I could just get it all organized on "paper".

  12. That was quite an introduction to Ashley. I do rather hope that Pamela can save the man, since if not, Ashley might just feel the need to backtrack and ruin everything in that seaside town.

    1. Gonna have lots of fun with Ashley eventually. *evil laugh* True. If she doesn't have her guy in Bridgeport, there's nothing stopping her from coming back to the island. It's in Pam's best interests to heal him.

  13. LMAO at "you awful skanky ass ho," I laughed a lot at that part. Haha, ah, *wipes tears away from laughing so hard*
Sheesh Ashley, what a piece of work, calling on Adele's birthday, to ask for help for some new person in her life. It makes me think what was so bad about Bryce and Adele that she just ran away, but is willing to be so desperate for this other person. XD

    Replies
    1. :D Yup. Got that from having a ton of teenagers in the background while I wrote this.
Ashley is first and foremost about Ashley. :/
Why this other guy and not Bryce? I'll get to that...

  14. Ashley. Oh boy. And it figures she only calls because she wants something from Pam. And doesn't even ask about Adele first.

Oh no! But I want to see what happens when Pam sees what Adele did!

    1. Yes. /sad sigh. She's all about herself and thinks the world was made just for her (thanks to her parents that still instill that in her). Adele as an afterthought sums it up well.

      <------- :)
Yeah. Took me forever to update the next one.

  15. I don't know why but I thought Adele's powers would come from her mother's side. If Pamela has powers, does it mean Bryce has powers too, or is their gift passed on to the female blood line?

Back to Adele's mother, she hasn't seen her daughter in how long? And the first thing she asks is for help, no doubt to save her boyfriend, or some man she's shacked up with. That was just cold, and a part of me can't help but think Adele and Bryce are really better off without her. And now she's dragged poor Pamela into her mess. I can just see her coming back to the island and causing unwanted drama. Go away Ashley, go away and take your sorry ass with you!

    1. Adele has them from both sides. As Bryce says in the next chapter, his parents were. It's not limited to females, it just so happens that I unintentionally did it that way with my characters.

Yeah, unfortunately, the woman hasn't seen her child in going on 6 years and the first thing she does is ask for something that has to do with herself and what she wants. It's her new husband. Bryce and Adele also realize that they're better off without her. Goodness, I'd hate to think of Bryce's reaction if he found out about this phone call and how Adele's birthday ranked lower than what she wanted out of Pamela. If Adele found out... at first, I was gonna say she'd be crushed, but idk, she'd probably be furious.

  16. I'm a little annoyed at where your story is going, myPal, because I'm usually very good at guessing what's going to happen! :P (it's a compliment) All hail the Queen of surprises!!

Pamela's reaction was great, bitching her out immediately like that. Very well deserved!! I kinda hope she helps him if she can. She doesn't have to do it for her, she can simply do it to save someone's life. THAT woman doesn't have to do anything to do with it.

    1. I tend to annoy easily. :P I have been able to tell from your comments how you can put together the pieces before most can (or admit that they can).

Ashley needs to be bitched out bigtime! That was only a shred of it. If Pam helps him, that will be the reason for it: because he's a person that needs help.

  17. Ooookay. As much as I'd like to be all "She called *on her daughter's birthday* to ask a favor for the person she left said daughter for without bothering to ask about said daughter"... She didn't forget. She knew exactly what day it was and what was probably going on. Did she time it like that just as an extra guilt trip? To have the reason she even knows Pam front and center before her? This lady is sneaky and manipulative. Pam didn't yell nearly enough. >:(

    1. Yeah, she knew. Leaving Adele was extremely painful, but she knew that leaving her with Bryce (really Pam) would be better than taking her with her to Bridgeport where they'd live with someone who wouldn't love Adele enough.
I remember writing that cuss-out. I was chaperoning a football game. Not just any game but one 2 hours away, and the band had stopped at a food court to eat. Guess being surrounded by all that attitude added to the words. Still, Pam should've said more. Thing is, she really didn't want anyone at the party to hear her.
