49: The Volcano Gods

Bryce

"What are you doing?" the beautiful woman behind me asks as I sit on the edge of the bed. The morning sun has risen well into the sky by now. I check the time on my phone. It's ten.
"I'm texting Marie to ask if she can come to a meeting here now instead of another day. I want all this sorted out, and Jones already said he could," I answer her and hit send.
While Erin gets up and takes a shower, everything gets settled. Jones will pick Marie up on his way and bring her here.
Erin comes out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel, and I can't resist her.
"How can you do this to me now when we have people coming over?" I moan into her ear as I pull the towel off her. Her skin feels soft and slightly damp, and I can't stop my hands from racing all up and down her back before I cup her behind and cover a nipple with my mouth.
"We have a few minutes," she breathes.
"Dammit, I love you," I say as I lift her and deposit her on the bed. The freshly-shaven space between her legs calls to me, and I can't resist moving down to get a taste. Erin: my favorite flavor, I think as four-letter words come flying out of her pretty mouth while I tease her with my tongue.
In the midst of her swearing, my name comes out in a moan. I love it when she says my name, but I want her to scream it.
But I don't have time! I think with an irritated groan as I pull off my briefs before lifting her hips to me where I stand next to the bed.

I groan for a much better reason after I push myself inside her. She's so fucking tight! I scream inside my head as I begin swiftly pounding myself into her.
I love that she loves this position. Well, I never outright asked her, but I can tell she's not complaining by the way she's carrying on. She gets tighter, and it's all I can do to hold on.
"Please, Erin baby, come on," I moan down to her as I feel her getting close. She starts making little whining noises and arching her back while I tortuously add a little more force.
Yes! I think as she comes and I can finally let go. I feel my hands dig into the soft flesh of her hips as I watch her eyes roll to the back of her head. Her legs now on either side of me, I lean over and attack her mouth with mine. She whimpers since I won't let her recover, but I have to kiss her right now. I want to just crawl right up inside this woman and live there for the rest of my life. This simple, quiet, shy goddess that has so graciously allowed a mere mortal like me to make quick, but satisfying, love to her.
The doorbell rings, shattering my illusion.
"Oh shit!" I let out as I quickly separate us and frantically search for wherever I threw my clothing. Erin starts giggling at me, I guess at my expression... or the situation.
"Ha ha very funny," I say in a mildly-sarcastic voice. "You're not the one that has to go answer the door."
Laughing at me still, she says, "Nope."
After I pull the first shirt I could grab over my head I lean down to quickly but firmly kiss her. "Thank you," I say once I pull back up.
"The pleasure's all mine, hottie. Now go answer the door before they think you're not at home anymore," she says with a grin and somehow manages to swat my behind.
She called me a hottie, I think with a ridiculous grin covering my face as I trot down the stairs in my bare feet.
They got here way too fast, I think as I answer the door and usher Jones and Marie into my dining room. I realize this is the first time I've ever had Jones over. I hope he'll accept the promotion I'm about to offer him.

"Thank you both for coming here on such short notice," I say to them as we all take a seat at the table. Then, I proceed to offer Jones the assistant manager position. He actually looks surprised, and he happily accepts. Good. Got that squared away. Next, I tell them that for the next little while, I'm cutting operating hours to only the evenings so that I don't have to hire someone else for the time being BECAUSE I'm going to tear the place down coming up real soon and build another building.
I'd been considering this little scheme for about a year now. The whole cutting back the opening hours wasn't really in the plan, but I don't think it's fair to hire someone only to have them not work for an extended period of time. Plus, that's one less employee that I'm going to pay a salary to while the building gets done.

Marie is the first one to ask about her paycheck, and that's when I tell them about the salary. All of this is going to really cut into my savings, but I think it'll be worth it in the end. I may actually have to finance an engagement ring for Erin when I get to that point. Hopefully, I won't have to take out a loan, or much of one, to finish the building and get everything I want.
"I may still ask you to come out and help with the labor for the building, if you think you can," I say.
"Of course," Jones replies. "We'll not be doing much otherwise, right, Marie?" he asks.
"As long as it's something I can handle, that should be fine," she answers, and her phone starts buzzing. "Sorry, I thought I had it silenced," she says sheepishly.
"No problem. You can go answer it if you want," I say.
"It was just a text, I can answer it later."
"The only thing really left to discuss is that I want both of your opinions about are the actual changes I want to make. A game room, for instance," I say, and Marie's phone lights up on the table. "Go ahead and take that, Marie, we can always get your take on stuff later."
Marie looks at her phone worriedly, nods, and gets up to answer it and head outside.

Marie

"Hello," I say simply before I close Bryce's glass door. It's Jesse.
"Did you get my text?" he asks.
"Yes, but I didn't read it yet because I was in a meeting with Bryce and Jones. Bryce wanted to do it this morning to get it out of the way, I guess," I answer, wondering now what the text said. "What did it say?"
"I wanted to know if you changed your mind about needing a ride anywhere."
"No, my day isn't going like I planned, but I guess that's okay since apparently my hours are being cut and I'll have more time on my hands on all the other days," I answer and then realize that sounded bad.
    "What?!" he yells, sounding upset.
I quickly get in, "I didn't mean for it to sound like that. I mean that Bryce is cutting back operating hours for a little while."
     "Oh. Why?"
"He wants to build a new bar-slash-whatever," I answer.
"Oh yeah, he'd mentioned that to me before, but I thought he'd changed his mind," he states.

We get quiet, and I wonder what he's thinking.
"So," he says a little quieter, "where are you anyway? At the bar?"
"I'm at Bryce's," I say, looking back at his house for a second and wondering if he's at home.
"Really?" I can hear his smile.
"No, I'm inside the volcano because I got cold," I answer in a humorously-sarcastic undertone.
"Well, if you're that cold, I'd be happy to warm you up," he says seductively. That man never misses any opportunity to throw something in like that apparently.
     "Jesse..." I say in warning.
He laughs and says, "Oh, right. Nice texting. I forgot." He laughs again, "Sorry, that was the first thought that popped into my head."
I stay quiet, reminding myself that there was a real person sending me those texts last night, and right now, I'm talking to him on the phone.

"Those shorts look good on you," he says in a lower voice, and I whip around to look at his house.
"So you ARE at home," I state.
"Yeah, the volcano isn't really my favorite place. Besides, you should steer clear of it too. I wouldn't want anyone to get some hair-brained idea to appease the volcano gods by tossing in a beautiful woman."
"And just how many times have you used that line?" I ask, trying yet again to keep what he said from affecting me.
"Probably... three, but I've never meant it so much as now," he answers, and we get quiet again.
I do my absolute best to keep from looking at his house now. It's driving me crazy to know he's watching me.
"Can you come over when the meeting is finished?" he asks me in a hopeful voice.
Alone with Jesse at his house... bad idea.
       "Why?" I ask, stalling.
"Because... I ... could use some help getting ready for the party tonight."
"If you needed help, then how were you planning on getting things ready while you were playing chauffeur?"
"Throwing things together at the last minute," he answers. Then he asks his own question, "Aren't you supposed to be in a meeting? I don't want to get you in trouble."
"It's pretty much over. In fact, I don't think I really have anything left to contribute," I answer.
"Oh good! I'm coming over there then," he answers happily and hangs up before I can stop him.
I frantically look around before dashing back into Bryce's house. I wish I had some form of transportation! I think, still panicking. I can see Jesse now as he walks towards the house, and I hear the television in the living room. Moving quickly and without giving an explanation to Bryce and Jones, I dash into the living room to find Erin sitting on the couch. I walk a little past her and sit in the chair.

"Everything okay?" she asks me timidly.
No! I want to hide because I can't handle Jesse and his feelings right now! I scream inside my own head. Fidgeting, I glance over at the girl sitting next to me. I'm guessing she's a few, maybe three, years older than me, but I don't think much more than that. I quickly make a decision and hope she'll help me.
"Jesse's coming over," I say quietly, letting my panic show in a pleading expression.
Her eyes widen as she, thankfully, gets what I'm really saying. "Oh."
We have no time to do anything to save me before Bryce and Jesse walk into the room. They each take a seat on the couch on either side of Erin with Jesse sitting right next to me. I suddenly find the coffee table extremely interesting before I look at the television.
"So Bryce," Jesse says, "Marie tells me you're going to do that whole 'tear the place down and rebuild' plan with the bar."
I see my boss's head pop over in my direction.
"News travels fast. That must've been you on the phone then," Bryce says. I hope I'm not in trouble.
"She wasn't supposed to tell me?" Jesse asks the question I'm thinking.
"No, it's fine I'm just... surprised," he answers, and I see Jones out the window as he starts up his car and leaves.
There goes my ride. Bryce must have told him not to worry about it.
"So Erin," Jesse talks again, "I know about everybody but you. Are you coming to the party tonight?"
She looks at me to ask, "Are you going, Marie?"
I don't know why she's asking me, but I answer anyway. "Yes."
"Yeah, I guess I can go." I can sense Bryce tense up before Erin says, "I'll be surrounded by people the entire time."

"I'm just nervous we haven't seen him in a couple of days," Bryce says in a small growl.
"I hope to see him," I say angrily. "Let him try to pull that crap again. I'll ensure he never has any children." I see Bryce hide a smile, Erin cover her mouth with her hand to prevent a laugh, and I hear Jesse crack up laughing. I can't look at Jesse.
"Oh hey," Jesse talks again, "that reminds me, Marie. Would you teach me how to do all that stuff?"

I look over at him for the first time since he walked into the room, and he looks like he's sincerely hopeful I'll teach him.
"You seemed to be able to handle yourself anyway," I state.
"But I wanna learn that stuff, and there's nobody here that could teach me but you," he nicely argues.
The television goes to a commercial break.
Bryce breaks the silence, "Erin, would you help me fix some lunch?" A subtle look passes between them.
Please don't leave me alone in here with him! I think desperately to the room. I'd just started to get mildly comfortable again.
       "Okay," Erin answers Bryce's question.
I quickly offer to help as well, but the two of them shoot me down. Jesse sits there quietly.
I'm alone in the room with him.
"Why don't you want to teach me?" he asks while I look at our feet. I pull mine off to the side away from him.
I decide on an answer. "Jesse, you want to date me, and I don't think it's a good idea to date a pupil." Oh no. I know exactly what he's thinking right now.
"So you're saying you'll date me?" he asks hopefully and leans forward. I feel like his whole body is leaning towards me, ready to pounce at a moment's notice.

"No. It's that... " I pause in surprise as he takes my hand. "And I've never taught anyone ever."
"I bet you'd make a great teacher," he says quietly as he pulls my hand towards him and covers it with his other one. "And it's what exactly?"
       "Hm?"
"You said 'it's that,' and I wanna know what you meant."
It's that I'm very attracted to you and CAN'T be your teacher. "It's not a good idea."
"It's a great idea to spend more time with you." he says while his thumb plays with the top of my hand. Then I hear the smile in his voice as he says, "And you'd have an excuse to beat the crap out of me on a regular basis."
"No matter how tempting beating the crap out of you sounds, I don't think it's a good idea." And I don't think I could beat the crap out of you now if I tried.
"Tell me why," he requests quietly.

"Jesse..." I say in a worried voice as I try to get my hand free from his tightened grasp.
"Would it be easier to tell me if I texted you?"
"With you sitting here right next to me? That's ridiculous."

"But you were more comfortable with that," he states, and we both get quiet for a few seconds. Then he speaks again, "I'm going to make a few guesses. You don't want to teach me because you have feelings for me, and you don't want that to get in the way. Or, you're scared of whatever it is you feel, and you don't want me to always be around you."
Again, I wonder if he can read my mind as I try to keep the shock from showing up on my face.
Since I haven't said anything, he says, "I want to learn, and it would be the perfect thing while I'm waiting for this unknown amount of 'time' to pass."
"Perfect in what way?" I ask, trying to make my voice steady. What he's still doing to the top of my hand is utterly distracting.
"To be around you. What happened to the girl that texted that she said she felt better when I showed up?"
       "I was being nice."
       "I like nice."
        ...........
        I don't say anything.
"I'd even pay for the lessons so that it won't feel like there's something else going on. I'd just be your pupil," he adds.
"Then, as my 'pupil,' you can't hold my hand like this." I jerk my hand out of his grasp.
"You're saying you will?" he asks, eyebrows raised.
"I'll think about it," I answer as I get up and head towards where Bryce and Erin are taking a lifetime to prepare lunch.

  1. Jesse has it bad lol. I remember using MSN in the good old days to talk to my hubby when we sat next to each other. We sometimes found it easier to talk back then, wouldn't do it now though so I understand why he suggested it. Marie shouldn't have past up the opportunity to beat the crap out of him lol he offered it on a plate.

What was this about an engagement ring??? If he asks too soon Erin might say no.

Loved Jesse and Marie in this one :)

    1. What a great idea you both had! Yes, sometimes it's easier to type than to talk, especially when you can edit what you're typing whereas with talking, words fly out of your mouth before you even realize what you're saying.

LOL A couple of days ago, she would've jumped at the chance to rough him up a little. Now, she's too busy going weak in the knees which irritates the hell out of her.

Ah, you caught it. I sneaked it into the middle of that paragraph to put it in like it sneaks into Bryce's thoughts from time to time. He doesn't plan on asking too soon. :)

      I'm glad. :)

  2. hahahahaha Jesse is funny. He is wiggling his way into her life and she is helpless to stop it. She wants him around as much as he wants to be around her, but she's scared.

Bryce and Erin, they have the sexual chemistry for sure. He still needs to slow down, he's already thinking about a possible engagement ring and she isn't even ready to move in with him.

    1. Jesse would be happy you think he's funny. ;) She doesn't stand a chance, and much as he doesn't want to overdo it/scare her/etc, he also can't help himself. Marie is terrified of being hurt like that. So similar to Erin (not on purpose, that fact actually drives me up the wall) except the best friend and the boyfriend were the same person.

I'm so tickled y'all caught the engagement ring thing. I suppose I shouldn't be, but I am. :) I sneaked it into the middle of that paragraph because that's how Bryce has been thinking these past days. Slips in there in the middle of everything before he can get back to the original topic. hehe. He's not planning on asking very soon, he's just thinking ahead about all the things that will affect his finances.

  3. Hmm interesting chapter. I also agree Bryce is moving to fast for Erin. I am afraid she'd freak out if he proposed to her now after the whole moving in with him talk.

Jesse and Marie are funny. Marie should have taken the opportunity to beat him up daily. Jesse so determined to be in her life. It will be interesting to see how these two's relationship develops.

    1. He doesn't plan on asking her anytime soon, so don't worry too much. :) He's just thinking up a year plan in his head and how it will affect his finances. Erin sneaked right in there in the middle of his thoughts -- again. Yes, she'd freak if he proposed right now. O.O

Jesse loves to be funny. Total class clown. LOL I love that you want Marie to beat him up on a regular basis. A few days ago, she might've taken him up on the opportunity, but lately she's irritated at being weak in the knees. Maybe a good Jesse smack-down would cure those weak knees of hers, if she can convince herself to do it. :)

  4. "This simple, quiet, shy goddess" - Oh, Bryce, you're so lucky you didn't say that out loud...
Also, hello midlife crisis! Bryce is tearing the bar down, building a new one and asking his girlfriend of three weeks to marry him?! I suppose he already has the sports car, so can't do that... O_O
Plus, loved the quickie, and the fact that he only just finished in time. What would he have done if they'd turned up a minute earlier? :p

Aw, poor Marie felt a bit cornered there, I think. Can't believe Erin left her alone with him, when she *knows*. What did of look did she and Bryce share that made her leave? I had an awkward/hilarious thought that Marie would walk into the kitchen and fine Erin and Bryce in a.. Uh... Compromising position. Seeing as lunch is taking so long. But I doubt they'd do that... Would they? :|

I thought Jesse was hilarious and sweet this chapter. He was in the 'texting' and bonus too, but it was out-loud here. He was a bit insistant on learning sim-fu, wasn't he? I'm betting he doesn't even care about learning sim-fu, he's just hoping Marie will have to touch him, and the other way around, while he's learning.
I'm not sure whether teaching sim-fu would make Marie home-sick, though. Her 'dad' was the one who taught her, and she won't have seen him for a while.

&one last thing. When Maries phone buzzed and then rang, and she looked worried, I thought it was little X-man ringing about joining the stories together ;)

    1. LOL I loved having him think the shy part.
Midlife crisis?! Not really. You can't have a midlife crisis at 26. Firing Simon made him go ahead and jump start his plan to revamp the bar and stuff. That extra-seating area is a waste, and it drives (me) him crazy. The ring bit is just showing how he's getting all his ducks in a row and planning ahead. He's just preparing himself for not being able to afford the kind of ring he'd like to get Erin When the time comes which, to him, might be while the bar is still under construction. :)
Marie and Jones might've had to wait a bit longer for Bryce to answer the door... or they'd have an extremely tense boss. LOL

Marie sure did feel cornered. !! Erin was torn. On one hand, she knew and understood why Marie was freaking out, on the other, she figured that leaving her 'alone' with Jesse while she and Bryce were still in the house might be a better option than what else might've happened. I Had written out where Erin convinces Bryce to hand her his keys and the two girls go off and do stuff to avoid Jesse. But then Jesse wound up texting Marie asking her if he did something wrong, etc., and it just started going where I didn't want it to go.
Bryce and Erin are in agreement that they want Jesse and Marie together, and Bryce wordlessly convinced Erin that Jesse needed a few minutes so he could talk to Marie about stuff that Marie might not want Erin and Bryce in there for.
      *twitches*
LOL Well, that's debatable, certainly, about what Erin and Bryce were up to in his kitchen. Whatever it was, they were being Very quiet about it... You'll just have to use your imagination because *gasp* I skipped ahead in time a bit at the beginning of the next chapter.

Jesse's starting to realize that he may have his work cut out for him this time with Marie. (tho he has no idea...) His goal is a gentle persistence, but sometimes that goal flies out the window.
Hm, yes, he wants to learn simfu, but you're right. It's more about the being together and .... other things that might could happen. hehe.
I didn't think about Marie missing her dad. I suppose I would've gotten there during the simfu learning stuff because she'd be constantly referring back to all the stuff John taught her.
I'm going to have John visit some time in the future most likely. LOL I can just imagine him and Jesse meeting. Two lions. LOL

Naw, Marie talks to Xavier at Christmas, and it's about... eh.. November or October, I'd have to look at my bullet-point list to be sure. QoD is going to have to sit dormant for a while yet. Your simple little 'joining the stories together' might cause me to really smush it all. At least move in the Parrens (Turner). O.O omg. Ben and Adele LMAO!!!!! What have you done?!

    2. Just read your comment to Misty. "She really wants to be friends with Marie" - I *know* what you're doing, and it's mean! Stoppit you!
Ah, ok, don't. They both need a friend, and seeing as their boyfriends (shuttup, Marie) are best friends, it only makes sense :) Double dates, please! :D

You can have a midlife crisis at any age. 'Pends how long you're gunna live for... :O NO! Don't kill Bryce that young! Gah! <3
You'd mentioned remodeling the bar during the time-jump anyway, so it wasn't a major shock to me. Can't wait to see how Bryce designs it in the end :)
Poor Erin! I can't imagine having to turn down a proposal, and I most likely would be so uncomfortable I'd accept it anyway. I hope Erin feels it's right when he chooses to do it, because I know he already thinks it's right.
      LOL! Extremely tense boss :p
Kinda lucky Bryce didn't make Erin scream his name, huh? (Ok, I think I took it too far. Imagine hearing your bosses girlfriend... yeah...)

I hadn't thought of that (the 'it being easier with Bryce and Erin nearby' bit). That's very true, if Marie was completely alone with Jesse, it would have been a lot more uncomfortable. At least she was able to get up and go to the kitchen to join them when she'd had enough, and not look that rude.
That alternate sounds fun to start with, but a bit upsetting on Jesse's part too. I'm glad you decided to let them have a little conversation together instead :)
Aww, Bryce and Erin the matchmakers hehe.
A time jump?! WHAT?! That's crazy! How will I know what they had for lunch? LOL! I'm going to assume Marie didn't walk in on anything then, because that would certainly come up in conversation, or make Erin stay home from the party in embarassment. :p

Lol at Jesse and John meeting, I'd love to be there for that :p Especially if Jesse and Marie are actually together at that point. Jesse doesn't stand a chance, John is very overprotective ;)
Two lions. Jesse is Mufasa, so who's John? He can't be Scar, because he's not evil, and he can't be Simba, because that would make Jesse his dad, and that's weird...

Ah, I'd forgotton it all happened at Christmas. But then, as it's always hot in your ST, I didn't know what time of year it was.
Me?! How is any of this my fault?!
Ben and Adele would be hilariously sweet, and Ben would be pretty safe as long as news of his father and brother don't reach Bryce's ears ;)
But, seriously?! Was this my idea?
No, really? I've given people ideas before, no, *told* someone an entire scene, and then spent ages going 'I wish I'd thought of that...' when I actually did... o.O
But, I'm certain you're the one who said you were gunna join the stories, and I didn't even start reading until you moved Marie! And then I read QoD after!
      Definately not my fault.

Lol, sorry if that sounded ranty (word?), I was in shock :p

    3. *giggles* it took me a second to realize what you meant, and then I remembered that *that* won't be quite the bombshell that it will be to others. Not hard to figure out tho. ;)
LOL at telling Marie to shut up. If this keeps up, they may as well be bf/gf.

      I don't know if I'd call that a midlife crisis tho. I'm just being a smart-ass.
Yeah, I remember mentioning it before. It's just if someone skips comments all together it's a bit of a surprise. um... *I* can't wait to see how he designs it in the end. I'm really kinda freaked out about this. I have an idea in my head, and I want that idea a reality. Thing is: I suck at it. If I got someone else to do it, I don't know if it would still be what I want, and I don't want to make anyone feel bad.
I hope with all the serious discussions that she and Bryce have that he would pick up on whether or not she's ready.
omgosh... the screaming their boss's name. uh.. awkward! esp for Erin.

Exactly, Marie had that escape option but also a one-on-one with Jesse (tho not quite as one-on-one as Jesse would like...)
That's how that alternate felt. Erin jumping up and down and giggling about driving the convertible while Marie looks at her like she's nuts, and Jesse looking sadly out the window thinking 'what exactly did I do wrong?' Then.. it just went downhill. :/
In my imagination Erin and Bryce had finished lunch and were just standing there in each other's arms whispering about stuff so as not to disturb Jesse and Marie and also not be tempted to eavesdrop.

Especially if Jesse and Marie are together at that point (still not nailed down) then I'm going to relish writing that. John is almost (well, he really is) possessive.
LOL John is 'John the retired secret agent lion'. LMAO. Strange super hero. *dies* I found out that if a kitty can purr then it can't roar so that answers John's question on whether or not lionesses can purr. I guess Elena is just the rare breed of lioness that can. haha.

mhm, I realized you didn't know, so that's why I did my best to explain the time of year. Kinda.

Because you made me think. Thinking is dangerous.... ;)

Hard to think of Xavier being a bad influence to anyone, but I guess that would be so. Yeah, more like his father and 'uncle' Jonah. Ben would drive her crazy! *giggles wickedly*

I think so. I'd been debating bringing over this character and that character, but to move the story over and just leave Champs les Sims as a background 'other town' so those left behind characters aren't completely forgotten. It wouldn't be the first time, I'm sure.

Maybe I DID think it and then forgot and then you mentioning again made me think it again but I've still forgotten. That would be so me. /sigh.

      Not ranty. :)

Well, good luck making Bryce's dream a reality. Help there ^ and here too if you need it. Although, I'm no master builder like she is, but we could brainstorm or something.
And, lol. Yeah, I can imagine Erin being red-in-the face for weeks!

Aww, you should let Erin drive the convertible at somepoint, it might help her agree to marry Bryce at the time, feeling trusted enough... Yeah, not really, I just want to see Bryce worrying all day that she's crashed his car :p
LOL! I don't know why it was funny, but I thought it was (the Bryce and Erin whispering in each others arms thing)

LOL! John would make a great superhero! He'd need to rethink the name... "John the retired secret agent lion" is a bit of a mouthful to shout in a situation when you might need him.

Aww, Xavier isn't a bad influence, but if Bryce found out about his mistake then he'd probably pair Ben with him and ban Adele and Ben from seeing each other, which would of course make them rebel...
      This is writing itself. LOL!
Or not, because that's too predictable.

    6. cat - I haven't given it a whirl yet, but if I start screaming ... I'll shoot you a message before running for the hills like a madwoman. Thank you. :) You too, Gem.

Oh, I suppose Erin will drive the convertible at some point, and we think alike because that's exactly what I was going to have Bryce do... freak out about his car yet feel bad he's worried about his car because he trusts Erin, but sometimes accidents happen and their not your fault and he wouldn't want to be mad at her about something like that... etc.
Maybe the funny is the thought of Bryce whispering back. It's almost too cutsey for him. hehe.

It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's John the retired se... aw I give up.

Xavier didn't really mean to be a bad influence. Tho really, how Ben is in my head, he's a bad influence all by himself. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
I love it when it writes itself.. then throw a monkey wrench into it... that's the fun part. :)

  5. Hurray for morning quickies, especially those involving ...oh wait, forgot myself there for a minute :P I friggin love how he was thinking about her that morning during sex and after...goddess. And making sure she got off first. What a not-so-gentleman! Did he even get his before the doorbell rang? He's so cute, getting all pumped over her calling him a hottie. I'm trying to refrain from humping Bryce right now.

Ooo ring financing in his thoughts for when he gets to that point, without him even giving it a second thought.

Geez Marie, tell him you'll call him back or something. And Geez Jesse, reusing cheezy pickup lines and admitting it, lol. That was a sweet phone conversation, like two people just starting to date or something. It actually caught me off guard that she freaked out over him coming over, considering she knew she was going to see him at the party later anyway. But I guess it's a mental preparation thing or something? But there again is that progressive overload thing...first he got her ok with texting, now she was a little ok talking to him on the phone. If he'd stop pushing so hard, she'd probably soon be ok with being around him a little more. But that'd be not as much fun, not as much as when she's gonna finally come loose on him and he isn't gonna know what hit him.

It's kinda funny how Bryce and Erin are on "teams" with Jesse and Maru, heehee. Like Erin coming to the party because she knows Marie wants an ally, and Bryce getting her to "help with lunch" so as to leave Jesse and Marie alone. Marie keeps digging herself into these conversational holes with Jesse *giggles* "I can't date a pupil" indeed. Now you're stuck both ways.

OK NOW DAMMIT WE CAN HAZ PARTY!

    1. Ah, yes. Morning quicky: the perfect way to start the day. :)
It's an ego thing with Bryce about making sure his woman gets some before he does. Don't understand what you mean by 'not-so-gentleman'. Yes, he got his when he could 'finally let go'.
hehe, he was a little surprised about how goofy-happy he felt about Erin calling him a hottie. Don't let Erin catch you humping Bryce...

Mhm, he's getting his plans going in his head. The idea has been kicking around his head ever since that morning when he walked to her house after the hot tub night while he was wearing his ACDC shirt. Then when Adele asked him.... etc. :)

Marie wouldn't have taken the call if she didn't really believe that she'd had nothing more to contribute to Bryce's plans, and Bryce acting like they'd discussed everything he wanted to discuss.
LOL Jesse couldn't help himself about the 'warm you up' and 'tossing in a beautiful woman to appease the volcano gods' bits. He knows they're cheesy, and he knows they work too. ;) Hehe, he didn't feel bad about admitting that he'd used the line before since she had the guts/cheek to ask outright, but then of course he had to add a tag at the end.
Exactly, it was a mental preparation thing. She'd gotten herself almost prepared to see him tonight, and then he called, and then she started thinking about last night, and then he said he was on his way. ah! The more I think about it, the more I realize you're right. It's progressive overload. Still, like pure sodium and water, you don't want too much or it'll explode right in your face.
He really didn't expect her to panic, and he was kind of kicking himself when he saw she was nervous... but he wanted to be around her again and didn't want to pass up the chance.. I mean, there she was! Right next door!
I think he could handle without any problem her coming loose on him.
Wow, the scene that just popped into my head...!!

Jesse and Maru? hehe. I know it was a mistype. I do that too. It's especially hard when I have characters named Erin and Eric. I've called my 1920s doctor Erin so many times!

Yes, hehe, Erin is coming to the party simply because she thinks Marie wants her there as an ally. She really wants to be friends with Marie. Oh yeah, Bryce was getting the subliminal signals from Jesse to 'beat it for a while' so he could talk to Marie alone. LOL Marie isn't a fast thinker sometimes, and she doesn't realize how what she says could be taken until after the words leave her mouth.

YES THE PARTY IS IN THE NEXT CHAPTER! :D

    2. ::facepalm:: lol yes I meant Marie. Jesse and Maru are tied together in my head now. Trust me though, I'd much rather see Jesse tied together with Marie :P

Oh, not-so-gentleman--because who wants a total gentleman all the time? Bryce's morning instincts, mmm.

Hope you wrote down that scene that popped into your head about Marie coming loose on Jesse (doh, almost typed Maru again, lol).

    3. *giggles*
I totally think Jesse when I read Maru. Well, sort of a combo of Maru and Shane. Aren't all 3 of them brooders too? hehe.

Jesse tied together with Marie... like tying two big cats together at the tail? claws...

Ah, okay. I get it. ;)

I didn't write it yet b/c I don't know the circumstances after which it will occur. Still... yeah. Oh, of course, that's saying IF it happens. bah, like I'd not do it.

      lol

      :D

  6. I love that Bryce makes sure she get hers before he finishes. Such a gentleman!

Well, Jesse has gotten really good at reading Marie. And that's a smart plan, getting her to teach him Sim Fu. Lots of ways to have 'accidental' physical contact there. =P
I love how Bryce and Erin keep trying to nudge Marie and Jesse together.

I'm excited to see what Bryce has planned for the bar.

    1. Oh yeah, it's an ego thing with him. Bryce's ego can almost get overdone, but Erin benefits from it. ;)

Hm, Jesse thinks he can read Marie. He's certainly a great guesser, but he wishes they weren't just guesses. Hehe, it is a smart plan. Yep, lots of fun this could be to write.
Bryce's reasons are a little self-centered, but he really does want Jesse to be happy too. Erin feels bad that Jesse didn't have anyone, and she's a real romantic and just eats this kind of stuff up.

*cracks knuckles* I hope I can get the idea in my head a reality. Scene production is not my strong suit.

  7. It sucks that Bryce is cutting down on the operational hours, but I understand why he's doing it. I wonder if his building plans include a resort or a retreat of some sort. It would fit nicely on the island.

Marie and Jesse, they make me smile, they are probably my fav couple in your story and I can't wait to see their relationship blossom.

That was very smooth of Jesse to get Marie to give him Sim-Fu lessons. It's a win-win the way I see it, Jesse gets to spend time with her, and Marie gets to get paid for kicking his butt!

    1. Exactly, and hopefully he can get everything moving on the actual building plans before long so that he can get a bigger staff and more hours, more business, etc. It's more of a club-feel to it. (more sound-proof walls that I'm sure the surrounding houses will appreciate) I'm going to try to keep everything on that same lot-size. Definitely multi-level with balconies and stuff.

I'm glad you love them like I do. Jesse really is a good guy as long as his womanizer-type-person in him stays under control. Don't know if I'd exactly call him that, but it's not hard to get where people can call him that. Hopefully the good guy in him can reach Marie and get her to get over what's happened and her insecurities, etc. :)

LMAO! Yes, a win-win! She gets paid to kick his ass! She may THINK that she's not capable of it right now, but that's just because it's been a little bit since he's made her really really mad. Oh, and yes, this way Jesse can spend regular time with her. :)

  8. Finance an engagement ring? o_O I hope Bryce just keeps that thought to himself for a while since Erin's still jittery about moving in. Awwww Jesse. He's so... so... cute! Haha. I love his little flirtatious remarks. *swoon*
Woo! Sex scene was HOT! LOL.

    1. yup yup. :) He's really thinking ahead. Now that he's 'woken up' emotionally, he's becoming quite the planner. Yeah, he knows if he mentions it now that Erin might run away screaming hehe.
Jesse's had a lot of practice with his lines.

    1. :) Jesse and Marie are one of my favorite dynamic couples. I can't control Jesse very much, I've realized. I've had to rethink my plot with them twice now.

Bryce's new bar will look AWESOME!!!

  10. God, he sure knows what to say and when, doesn't he! I can't imagine him being speechless, there always seems to be something he can think of! He sure has fallen pretty hard, and as much as I can understand her reservations I need her to get over it right now! I have hopes for those training sessions :D

    1. Hehe, he's had lots of practice, lots of slaps across the face, knee in the balls, rolled eyes, but he also has gotten it right a plethora of times. (I love using that word. Make me think of The Three Amigos)
Yes, he has got it bad. :)

  11. Hmmm... Did Bryce really say something to Jones or does he feel that strongly toward Jesse? (Or a third option regarding jealousy, perhaps?)

    Jesse is hopeless. lol.

    1. I'm confused. He gave Jones the assistant manager position. He's talked about it with Jesse in the past, not the asst manager thing but the bar plans. You mean when Jones walked outside to drive home? Yeah. Marie guessed right that Bryce told him not to worry about driving Marie home.

      Yes, yes he is. :)
